Course Description
This course begins with an overview of the contribution of information systems development in organizations. Various systems development methodologies are discussed such as the systems development life cycle (SDLC), rapid application development (RAD), agile methodologies and lean methodology. This is then followed by an overview of programming basics, programming languages and programming tools that include integrated development environments (IDE) and computer-aided software engineering (CASE) tools. The course also touches on effective information systems implementation methodologies. This is then followed by a discussion on the concept of globalization and the benefits and challenges of global firms.
Next, the course discusses the digital divide and the ethical measures being taken to ensure fairness in the implementation and use of information systems.
